Our adventure into the land of Narnia

Levi, Joseph and I are in Surprise, AZ visiting my parents.  Today we went and saw the touring Chronicles of Narnia exhibit.  It was fabulous.  If you have seen the movies you get a feel for what it was like.  You enter the room with the wardrobe at the end…just like in the movie, down to rain splashing down the windows.  Then you walk through the wardrobe, brushing against the coats and enter a winter  wonderland with falling snow.  It was great fun.

Unfortunately, photos were prohibited so I can’t show you Christina (my niece) sitting in the White Witches throne or Joseph at the door to Mr. Tumnus’s house or any number of other scenes and movie props that recreated parts of the book and movies.  If you live somewhere this exhibit is touring…and you are fan of the books, it’s worth a visit.

I first entered Narnia when I was 12 years old, and I’ve re-read the books so many times I have parts memorized.  I think my all time favorite line (not a particularly profound one) is the first line of The Voyage of the Dawntreader.  “There once was a boy named Eustace Clarence Scrubb, and he almost deserved it.”  After the tour today I realized it has been quite awhile since I have read all 7 books so I think I will have to do that before summer winds to an end.

We also visited the Grossology exhibit…but I was able to take pictures there, so I will save a post about that until later.
