I would suggest wikipedia pages on orphism, pythagoreanism, platonism. For other views of various Greek sages, try Empedocles and Heraclitus too. The Stoics believed it was possible to survive death if your soul was strong and harmonious, but a slack soul would fade to nothing. Epicureans believed the soul died with the body. But the views of others might surprise you!

Ah! Exekias! Achilles/Ajax has such psychological acuity.

The Greeks had many different ideas of the afterlife, depending on whom you ask. The Homeric approach is 'hungry ghosts', but the various mystery schools had different approaches, as did the Orphics, Pythagoreans and Platonists.

Thanks Rebecca. The only real information I have found dealing with the afterlife would have more to do with the myths surrounding Hades, the underworld, the River Styx etc. After what research I did, it seemed they really didn't have definite ideas. Good luck with your research. I would love to know what you find out.

I am doing research on the Greek's belief in the afterlife. I know they dont focus on the afterlife but, I was hoping there might be some art that depicts the afterlife. Do you know of any?
