Advanced Biology Tuesdays at 11:00
Homework Due Sept. 16. Study for Test. We will be taking the test next week in class.
Homework Due Sept. 9. Read Module 1 and do the study guide.
The text book we will be using is The Human Body, Fearfully and Wonderfully Made, published by Apologia. In order to take this course, the student MUST have completed a first-year biology course AND a first-year chemistry course. It covers both the anatomy and the physiology of the human body’s 11 organ systems in detail. Combined with Exploring Creation With Biology , it gives the student the equivalent of a university biology course. In other words, these two courses together cover the entire “advanced placement” (AP) curriculum.
Students also need to purchase The Human Body: The Anatomy Coloring Book, 3rd Edition, by Wynn Kapit and Lawrence M. Elson. This is not a child’s coloring book! Use of this book is one of the best ways to learn and memorize anatomical details and nomenclature. Many college and medical students use this book in their study of human anatomy. A ‘must-buy’ for anatomy students.
Recommended that each student purchase the Dissection Kit. The dissection kit includes a Cow Eye, Cow Heart, and Fetal Pig. Note: the set does not include dissection tools or trays.
Optional: Students may wish to purchase the Human Body – Slide Set.
This listing of laboratory equipment assumes that the student already has a microscope and set of dissection tools.
The slide set includes:
- Human blood smear
- Human mouth, epithelial cells
- Human striated muscle
- Human heart muscle
- Human cerebrum
- Human tonsil w/lymph nodes
- Human lung
- Human skin
- Human skin w/t.s.hairs
- Human stomach
- Human red bone marrow
- Human testis
- Human salivary gland
This looks good
